The SavvySisters review Respondent
For an honest review of a survey site, you need to have spent some time actually getting into the nitty-gritty of the site and completing surveys for at least a month. We always ask, how much money could I make in a month from respondant.io?

Respondent registration and verification process
To sign up as a Respondent you will need the following:
- PayPal Email address
- Either a LinkedIn or Facebook account
Visit – Respondent on your website browser we did this on Chrome, and the site worked perfectly. When you click to join Respondent you will need to either verify your LinkedIn or Facebook account to start the registration process. This is so they can verify your employment background. I did this with LinkedIn.
You will then have to go through a four-step registration process. This involves verifying your contact details. You will need to add your mobile phone details and input a code that gets sent to you.
You will also need to fill out details about your demographics, which includes things like age, sex and location. Finally, you need to add details about your work. You are also asked to verify your work email address. This is not compulsory, and I decided not to do this. As far as I can see this has not stopped me getting any surveys.
The overall registration process took me about 10 minutes it is not too labour intensive.
How does the Respondent platform work?
- You apply to participate in studies that you think are a good fit for. Respondents are not paid to take the qualifying survey. These qualifying surveys are between 1-20 questions and normally take about 2 minutes to complete. Most of the time they are multiple-choice, but they can also include free text questions.
- The researcher/sponsor of the study reviews responses and sends invitations to those they think are the best fit. These invitations are normally via text. I think this is a great addition as you never miss an opportunity.
- If you receive an invitation to participate, you choose a time that suits you from those made available by the researcher or complete the unmoderated test.
- After you have completed the study, you are paid the advertised amount less a $1 or 5%, whichever is higher, fulfilment fee. This is paid via your PayPal email address you supplied when you registered.
Are the different types of surveys on Respondent?
There are three different types of surveys on Respondent.
Self-Directed – This is when you open a website at a time that suits you and you complete the task/survey with no supervision.
Remote – This is when you either have to dial into the research via your computer or phone and you may or may not have to use a webcam.
In-person – This is where a researcher visits your home.
How much money can I make on Respondent?
Lets review Respondent. Once you have registered you can take up to three qualifying surveys every 24 hours. There are normally 3 – 10 new surveys on my account daily. However, I believe this varies depending on where you live and what job you do for a living.
On average you can make $120 an hour, most of the surveys that I have completed have been an hour remote survey where I have had to go on webcam. This can be quite daunting at first but after the first few minutes, it then becomes fun!
Here are some examples of the types of qualifying surveys on my account:
Respondent Pros and Cons
What is our overall review of Respondent? Respondent is a fantastic website that allows you to take part in some interesting and very well paid market research. There are always some cons to sites where you can make money online.
As long as you are prepared to verify your social media accounts and your phone number, Respondent has a simple registration process. Out of all the survey sites I have tested this site really does offer the best opportunity to take part in hour-long research where you do get paid hundreds of dollars.
Once you have completed the qualifying survey you can see as a percentage how qualified you are, which gives you the likelihood of being invited.
You do need to be prepared to be on webcam for certain studies and have a number of people on the call. This can be quite scary at first but as soon as you do it once you get used to it! Remember you have completed the qualifying survey so you have the knowledge needed for the research or you would not have been invited!
How much did I make in the first month on Respondent?
In the first month of trying Respondent I complete three surveys:
- One self-lead study $10 (10 minutes)
- Two remote studies $125 each (60-minute webcam interview)
Monthly Total – $260
Should I try Respondent online survey site?
100% with the registration process only takes 10 minutes and new surveys added daily it’s a no brainer! If you checked the site daily and answered as many qualifying surveys as possible you could be earning $250 a month. That is the potential of bringing in an extra $3000 a year!
